NFPA 286 describes a method for determining the contribution of interior finish materials to room fire growth during specified fire exposure conditions.
The following test used insulation as the interior finish material, and should not be considered indicative of results when another interior finish material, such as gypsum wall board, is covering the insulation.
This method is not intended to evaluate the fire endurance of wall or ceiling assemblies, nor is it able to evaluate the effect of fires originating within the assembly.
